DIY Oly Studio Pipa Side Table

I have long been ob-sessed with the Oly Studio Pipa Table, have a looksie...

Unfortunately for me, the $1,500 price tag just wasn't gonna cut it for a side table. Bummer, right? Enter: Home Goods shopping trip last week. I was not looking for anything in particular, but as soon as I spotted this metallic monster, I knew I had to have it. I know, not cute - but the shape was definitely there. I knew with a little spray paint, it could look like the real deal. For $99, I didn't have much to lose. To my studio garage we went.

looking good already...getting excited

voila!

I still have a few things to do to finish this area (style the bar cart, order an ottoman, steam the chair, etc), but I am loving the way the table turned out. Not bad for $1,400 off, don't you think?

Happy Monday!

Favorite Drugstore Lipstick

We've made it to Thursday! I'm super excited about this post, because who doesn't love a great drugstore beauty find? Recently, I've become slightly obsessed with lipstick (I used to wear gloss only), and found myself super disappointed with the Mac lipstick I bought...I know, I know why would I buy it if I tried it and liked it? Well, I like the color, but I hated the way it felt on my lips, and it had a bad taste (like a lot of lipsticks).

I was scanning the makeup aisle at Target the other day, and spotted Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipstick for $5, what did I have to lose?

I found a shade very similar to the Mac color I had purchased, and tossed it in my cart, not expecting much. I was wrong. Like woah, I love this lipstick! You definitely have to give it a try - it is buttery soft, smells pretty good (seriously), and is so smooth on (Mac seemed very dry). I am definitely going back for more colors! I purchased 14, and love it - perfect neutral shade for everyday wear (great for lipstick beginners, like me!).

To me, the hardest part about buying drugstore lipsticks, is knowing what the color will look like ON - why don't drugstores have testers?! But I found this amazing-ness, and couldn't  be more excited. I'm definitely going to be purchasing numbers 12, 7, and probably 11 as well.

Summer Blues

Happy Tuesday, ladies! Today, I'm sharing a design board I created for someone looking to add a little summer punch to a sitting area. We focused on creamy ivories, indigos, browns, and lots of texture - I'm loving the look we ended up with.

By replacing a sofa with rattan chairs, layering rugs, and adding new throw pillows, a space can be quickly transformed for the season. I absolutely love this laid-back look, and wish I could transition my living space for summer, how about you? If you're on a tighter budget, simply switching up your throw pillows is a great way to change the look of an entire room. Mix and match pillows are my favorite - just be sure to choose patterns of different sizes, and a color pallet that is easy on the eyes.

What is your favorite way to 'summer-ize' your home?

Designer Crush: Emily Henderson

I recently stumbled upon Emily Henderson's blog, and fell in love. How did I not know about this amazing lady?! I have no idea. I mean, I do watch every HGTV show ever created...but somehow, missed her in the shuffle that is my life. I was instantly drawn to her eclectic design style, and agree with her philosophy that you should design your home for YOU, not for others, or for what you think it is 'supposed' to look like. Take a look at some of my favorite spaces from her portfolio...

Do you like these eclectic looks, or do you prefer a more refined style?

Happy Friday, loves! xo

Boyfriend Jeans

I'm a big fan of the boyfriend jean - especially for summer. There's nothing worse than being overheated in skin-tight denim, am I right?!

I've been in search of a great pair for a long, long time. Ideally, I was hoping to find a distressed pair, you may remember the Rag & Bone boyfriends I posted on a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find them in store (and this is a pair of jeans you definitely need to try before you buy). While we were in Miami, I stopped in All Saints, and found 'the' pair! The fit is perfect, and they are super soft, which will be great for summer - I have a feeling I will be living in them. I wish they were a bit more distressed, but I plan on turning that into a little DIY project. I don't seem them on their site, but they are the All Saints Hayden Boy's Fit Jeans in Indigo (they do have them in white online).

Are you a fan of boyfriend jeans? How do you wear yours?

Our Miami Vaca (photo overload)

Good Morning! We are back from Miami, and I have to admit, I'm feeling a little lot sad about it. It was such an amazing trip...one for the books! Miami is where my husband and I met, and got engaged, so it holds a special place in my heart.

We stayed at the Mondrian South Beach - our favorite spot. I like the ocean, but I think the view of the bay is much more interesting...the view from the pool (and the rooms) is of Star Island, and downtown Miami, plus you get to watch the gorgeous sunset every night! The rooms at this hotel are much larger than others in South Beach as well (another plus while traveling with a baby, or anyone really).

If you ever been to Miami, you know its HOT - so with a baby, a cabana is key. It's amazing how much cooler it is in the shade...not to mention it's basically a gigantic baby bed. ;) This was the perfect space for Sophia to spread out and relax, nap, etc.

The kitchenette in our room was perfect for washing bottles, and other baby feeding necessities.

My favorite restaurant in Miami is Casa Tua - a must if you plan to visit. We had dinner here after we got engaged, and I couldn't wait to return. The setting is so intimate, you feel like you're in someone's back yard... not to mention the food is delicioso!

Prime One Twelve is another great restaurant, but it's extremely busy all.of.the.time. We had a great meal here, and luckily got table outside, but steer clear if you want to avoid a crowd!

At dinner, my husband surprised me with matching cuffs - we spotted them while we were shopping earlier that day, and he snuck back to buy them without me knowing! He likes surprises, but I usually figure them out...not this time.

Remember my printed pants from H&M? I bought the matching blouse, and transformed the pants into a jumpsuit (look). This was my favorite look of the trip - very Miami.

shoes: Jeffrey Campbell/pants: H&M/ clutch: YSL

coverup: Victoria's Secret/sunnies: Forever21

leather shorts: Forever 21/crochet top: Forever 21

The rain in Mimai is crazy, we had one afternoon (a couple hours) of downpour central. Luckily, we were shopping at the time, but on the way back to the hotel, I felt like we were on a canal tour (by boat). 20 minutes later, the sun was out, and the pool was packed. The streets were dry by the time we went out for dinner that night - crazy.

Sophia loved the beach. Coverup: Victoria's Secret/Head Scarf: Missoni/Sunglasses: Ray Ban

The Delano is also a fun hotel right on the beach. We spent an afternoon there, and enjoyed a drink (or two) after dinner at Casa Tua.

Sophia had her first kiss in the baby pool...with a boy named Blake...from Monaco...at sunset. LOL

Hope your week is going well xo!
