A Rug Story

One of my 2013 resolutions for my home is to 'finish it.' We all know a home can never be truly 'complete,' as things are always changing, but I have a few specific areas I'd like to focus on. I've started sourcing items to fill the remaining spaces, and keep coming across gorgeous rugs of all shapes, sizes, and prices. Rugs are truly one of my favorite 'home' items, and a great rug can really transform a space. Here are a few of my recent favorites:

Obsessing Over: Castle Textiles

Happy Friday, loves! Hooray for the weekend...any exciting plans? We will be heading to our go-to sushi spot (as we do every Friday), and I can't wait...they have the best garlic edamame, yummm. 

I'm currently ob-sess-ing over Castle, ever heard of it? Talk about the most amazing textiles and art ever! Each piece is so fun, carefree, and makes my heart sing...I'm adding purchasing one of the embroidered art pieces to my 2013 resolutions. ;) This would also be a super simple DIY project if you didn't want to shell out the cash.

Spice Up Your Kitchen

Happy Monday, all! Hope you had a nice weekend...ours was cold. In that, we STILL don't have hot water. I know what you're thinking, how did she take a shower?! I didn't - technically. I boiled three large pots of water on the stove, and took a bath - a scene straight out of the 1800s. We are getting a new hot water heater tomorrow...seriously, all I want for Christmas is hot water. 

Moving on...today, I made the rounds to all of my favorite home stores, and found some pretty great items that can really add some flava to your kitchen. I brought a few home with me, and wanted to share my Anthro picks with you all. If you are looking to add some color to your kitchen/dining space, these are some fabuloso options. 

Go for the Bold

There's nothing more boring than a house full of 'builder beige' walls (yawn). There are just SO many options when it comes to color, and some of my favorite rooms feature bold or brightly painted walls. Many people are afraid of color, but it really can change the look of a room - in an amazing way. Wallpaper is another great option, but I chose to feature paint because it's easy to change and relatively inexpensive. Here are a few spaces that make my heart pitter patter...

For the Love of Art

I love art. Specifically, abstract art. I have always loved creating art, admiring art, and having art in my home. When I was younger, I had a gigantic watercolor that I painted in my elementary class, and my mom had it professionally matted, framed, and hung on my wall. Even though it wasn't that great, I loved it! My parents always encouraged my creative side, and I thank them for that (although, I'm sure they weren't thrilled when I repainted my bedroom every.single.year...especially the year I was into neon GREEN!). 

Do you enjoy abstract art? In a gallery? In your home? I've collected a few images that make me swoon - the first is actually for sale on Etsy - a steal for an original piece if you ask me! Art is a wonderful way to make your space unique, bright, and cheery.
