Weekend

TGIF lovahs! Any fun weekend plans?

I just found out my bff's fiance has been traded to the San Diego Chargers, and I couldn't be happier that we will soon be a few (double digit) miles away, rather than thousands and thousands! Hooray!

Have a fabulous weekend ladies and gents

Weekend in Photos

You may have seen this on my IG - but I will show you again...it felt great to start the weekend with my favorite kale aid. After having this, I came to the conclusion I would like to invest in a juicer. I loooove fresh pressed juice, but it can really add up if you're drinking it a few times/week (the one I usually order is around $8). I found a juicer on sale at Macy's over the weekend, and placing my order today. I believe it was Krups, and it had rave reviews online...more to come soon.

I found the cutest little (overpriced) hat for Sophia at a local boutique. My husband thought it was ridiculous, but I just could not resist. She will probably never wear it, but honestly...I bought it because I was wishing it would fit me. Unfortunately, it's 0-6 months, and I have a large noggin.

I went to my first (ever) ballet barre class on Saturday morning, and I'm having trouble walking today ;). It was great.

Spotted this bag, fell in love, then cried when I saw the price tag. I couldn't justify spending $275 on a bag that isn't at least decent quality. It felt so lightweight, and the leather just wasn't right...total bummer. Isn't she gorg?

I love beets, and this beet salad did not disappoint!

Found a new store I'm completely obsessed with. They had the most beautiful vintage kantha quilts, rugs, and outdoor furniture. TO die for.

My hubby really likes fights to be the one to push Sophia in the stroller - I love it.

A gorgeous morning at church. To be totally honest, I used to think going to church was a pain and extremely boring, but now I really look forward to going each week. Finding the right church is key - ours is modern, and the pastors are funny, real people - the message is always very relatable.

gem of a staircase

Had the most ah-maz-ing cheat meal ever - truffle cheeseburger, truffle fries, sweet potato fries, and ginger beer. It was so delicious, and definitely worth cheating for.

How was your weekend?

Happy Friday...& A Winner

Happy Friday, lovas! I'm super excited it's the weekend...however, I'm NOT excited that out hot water heater is broken - what?! Thankfully, they have overnight-ed the part we need, and it will be fixed tomorrow. You never really appreciate hot water until you have none.

In other exciting news, we have a WINNER of the Gilded Mint giveaway...

Natalie - Congratulations! I will be contacting you shortly, lucky lady!

Have a great weekend!

My Weekend

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, I know I did. The long weekend was so great - we had so much fun, and got a lot of things done around our home. We spent Thanksgiving day with our friends and their family. It was so nice to be surrounded with friendly faces and great food since our families are across the country, and we won't be seeing them until Christmas.

I've been eyeing these Jonathan Adler salt&peppers for some time now, and had to buy them for our host and hostess on Thanksgiving. Aren't they cute?

Spent some time at the beach on Saturday...Sophia slept through the whole event. Even though I miss a good blizzard from time to time, I am so thankful to be able to hit the beach in November. We finally got a carrier, and ended up going with the Ergo - an early Christmas present. So far, so good - it's comfortable to wear, and S seems to enjoy 'riding' in it.

My new rug came, and I love it! After we moved all of the furniture, placed the rug, and replaced the furniture, we ended up hauling it upstairs to our bedroom - it looks much better in there. Now I need to get started on completing our bedroom.

I got bored with my acrylic tray, so I decided to paint the bottom of it, and I'm loving the way it turned out.

a bit more exciting

We kicked off the season with some Christmas decorating and holiday tunes. We decided this is the last year with our faux tree - next year we're going for the 'real deal.' I always had a real tree growing up, and I want Sophia to have that experience as well - it's something I always loved.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for an amazing GIVEAWAY!

My Weekend

Hello and welcome to Monday! This weekend flew by, and I'm longing for one more day of r & r. We had a great few days of not doing much of anything. We were planning to head to the pumpkin patch yesterday, but it was SO hot we decided to postpone the visit. Have you made a trip to your local pumpkin farm? It's one of my favorite fall activities, and I'm so excited to take Sophia to see the pumpkins and animals (although, I'm sure she won't appreciate it until next year...I will!).

We are attempting to make the transition to the crib. We are not co-sleepers, and Sophia does not sleep in our room, but she has been sleeping in her swing or bouncy seat since she was only a few days old. She loves (since the day she was born) to be held, rocked, and to be constantly moving. When I initially put her in her crib, she would move around and not be able to fall asleep, so I bought a bouncy seat - which worked...for some time. After a few weeks, when she was in her seat, she would fuss unless someone (me) was bouncing the seat. So - I caved, and bought a swing, which has been a total life-saver. She loves the swing, and is (most of the time) content when I put her in there. The swinging motion puts her (and keeps her) to sleep very easily - she currently sleeps 6-7 hours/night. Our doctor said it is completely safe to let her sleep in the swing, but I know she is eventually going to outgrow it and HAVE to sleep in her crib, so I am trying to make this transition a bit easier by starting this week. Right now, she is asleep in her crib, and has been for an hour and a half (hoping this works). Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Any tips for us?

I came across a great quote last night; I just love this. We could all use a small reminder now and then, and I felt this was a great way to kick off the week, no?

I made a trip to the nail salon this weekend, and was chatting with the girl who was doing my nails when she asked me my name. When I told her my name was Brooke, she got the most confused look on her face. She said, "Like 'broke'? Why would your father give you a name like that?" LOL. After I tried to explain that it was different, I just shrugged my shoulders and smiled.

I used to be a 'white wine only' type of girl, but have recently taken the plunge into the deliciousness they call red. I found a new favorite this weekend, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a sweet & smooth red wine. Bonus - only $14 a bottle!

I had to get a little dessert to go with it.

After church yesterday, the greatest surprise was waiting outside - a line of FOOD TRUCKS! I was so excited, starving, and made my way to the Mexican truck - 'Tamarindo.'

Mexican Coke - my favorite!

I ordered one fish taco, and one veggie taco. Both were delicious, but the veggie taco was out of this world! If you live in Orange County, I would definitely suggest stalking this food truck - the tacos are only $3.50! YUM. Find out more about Tamarindo HERE

Random Monday thought, but how great do Barbara and Elizabeth look today? You can't see in the photo, but Elizabeth is wearing a great pair of burgundy skinnies with her leather top and dagger necklace, and Barbara is rocking that chevron, sequin sweater. Barbara is my all-time favorite.
Can you believe she is 83?! I hope I look that fab at 83.

Happy Monday!

Friday

Happy Friday, people! This week seemed to go pretty quickly, which is great! I can't believe how much Sophia is growing each and every day...it's incredible! She is now 6 weeks old, and she is ROLLING OVER! I checked my baby book from the doctor and this is under the 3-6 month range...this makes me a little nervous. Don't get me wrong, it is a lot of fun, but I would like her to be able  have to stay in once place for a while longer. We have a lot of stairs in our house, and I am not looking forward to baby gate installation.

We don't have any big plans this weekend, just our standard Friday night with sushi in Newport Harbor (our new tradition). We have a favorite sushi spot, and it's so fun to watch the boats coming to and leaving the harbor; not to mention chow down on the best garlic edamame ever.

morning smiles

Halloween gift box from my mama - she makes up the best care packages!

My TA workout dvd arrived the same day - talk about perfect timing. I can't wait to try this today!

Looking through our wedding book - if you have never ordered a book from iPhoto, I would HIGHLY recommend it! I order one for every big occasion, and they are so beautiful and GREAT quality.

I ordered a couple new scarves this week, and I'm especially excited about this first one. I am slightly obsessed with zebras (and elephants, for that matter).

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

My Weekend in Photos

Hello! How was your weekend? We were on the go all weekend, and feeling a little sleepy this Monday (what's new?). My hubby suggested we make a trip to Manhattan Beach for the day on Saturday, and we had a lot of fun. We spent the afternoon walking on the pier and checking out the local boutiques. We stumbled upon the cutest ice cream & candy shop (love at first sight). I have always had a major sweet tooth, and they had the most adorable Halloween-inspired treats. Here's a peek into my weekend via my camera roll.

Friday Funnies

After a long day yesterday with a baby who was WIDE awake from 9 am - 11 pm, I thought I'd keep it simple today with a few good laughs (that I can relate to all too well). Seriously. TGIF.

To all most of my Facebook friends:

Is anyone else upset about GG ending?

Happy weekend to you!
