For the Love of Art

I love art. Specifically, abstract art. I have always loved creating art, admiring art, and having art in my home. When I was younger, I had a gigantic watercolor that I painted in my elementary class, and my mom had it professionally matted, framed, and hung on my wall. Even though it wasn't that great, I loved it! My parents always encouraged my creative side, and I thank them for that (although, I'm sure they weren't thrilled when I repainted my bedroom every.single.year...especially the year I was into neon GREEN!). 

Do you enjoy abstract art? In a gallery? In your home? I've collected a few images that make me swoon - the first is actually for sale on Etsy - a steal for an original piece if you ask me! Art is a wonderful way to make your space unique, bright, and cheery.

Seeing Stripes

I am always drawn to stripes - especially when summer rolls around! The nautical, classic feel is always eye-catching, and while it's not my personal style, I love the look. I like to wear my stripes in a bit more boho fashion (loose tanks, flowy maxis, etc). I am definitely not one who lives by the old "horizontal stripes make you look wide," rule.

How do you feel about stripes? Have you picked up any striped items for summer? You might recall, I sported this look at the farmer's market last weekend; I enjoy dressing my 'bump' in stripes.

Homemade Jewelry Cleaner

I love having clean jewelry, who's with me? Nothing bothers me more, than to look down at my engagement/wedding rings, and find them looking dirty! Having clean gems (especially diamonds) just makes you feel good...right? I'll admit, cleaning jewelry can be a pain, but I have a great homemade solution for you. This is a 'family' recipe and has been passed from my Grammie Cakes (grandma), to my mom, to me. It is extremely simple, and you probably have all of the necessary items in your home today. 

You Need:

1 clean, glass jar

Ammonia 

Dawn 

Water

Directions:

Mix 3 parts ammonia, 1 part water, and 3 drops of Dawn

(i.e. - I used 1 c ammonia, and 1/3 c water) 

voila! 

This solution is extremely simple, and works wonders on your favorite pieces! I keep mine under my bathroom sink, and drop my jewelry in while I get ready. When I finally give up the fight with my hair finish primping, I find perfectly cleaned rings that make me feel like this...

Woven Delights

Hello and Happy Friday! I can't believe it's the weekend again...yippee! We don't have much planned since we are so far from our mamas (sad), but there is always something going on and I'll be sure to give you the update on Monday.

Show Your Mom Some Love

I love my mom...but really, who doesn't love their mom? I happen to have the most amazing mother a girl could ask for. There is just something special and unique about that mother/daughter bond...and my mom is truly my best friend. Love you, Mom!
