Staple Pieces: Summer Wardrobe Edition

Happy Thursday to you...hope you are all having a fabulous week! I am so excited that my long-time (fashion-forward) friend, Morgan, is here to share her thoughts on 'the summer wardrobe.' Head over to her blog to check out all sorts of fashion-related greatness!

Hello Decorgreat readers! My name is Morgan and am visiting today from The Jem Journal. I am so happy to be here!

Now that summer is officially upon us, and the weather has decided to corporate, I am FINALLY able to wear my summer wardrobe. There is something about putting on a little dress and a stunning wedge sandal that really makes a girl happy! With that said, I would like to share with you my list of staple pieces: Summer Wardrobe Edition.

A Lace Dress

A Pretty Printed Maxi Dress

Palazzo Pant, I like these
A Jean Jacket
A Neutral Wedge

A Statement Earring

I think it's important to have a few solid, staple pieces in your wardrobe for each season. Your staple pieces will give you the opportunity to create more outfits with less, which should save you a buck or two in the long run.

The little lace dress is an amazing piece; it can easily be thrown on by itself and be a quick, out-the-door outfit. You can also change up the look by simply adding your cute jean jacket, wedges, and your statement earring. And when fall rolls around, throw on a pair of leggings and a little jacket - it can be worn in both seasons.

I also love the palazzo pants because they are an effortlessly, chic look. I would pair them with a white tank, your wedge, and your killer statement earring. These babies can also be transferred into the cooler months, which is always a plus. And you can never go wrong with a gorgeous printed maxi. I have more maxis than I should probably admit hanging in my closet, but they are again, a simple, go-to outfit. So there you have it - my summer staple pieces! I hope everyone has a lovely summer and thank you so much, Brooke for having me!

XO,
Morgan

Ne(on) a Budget

NEON...It's everywhere! I am loving this bold, summery look, but am not about to spend a fortune on something I'll regret as soon the trend starts to fade (literally). I like to invest in key wardrobe pieces, and save when it comes to trends. With that in mind, I found some fun neon items that won't break the bank this summer.

hair bands - lipgloss - pants  - shorts - enamel bangle - orange top - necklace - earrings - scarf - sandals - bag

Will you be wearing neon this summer?

Father's Day Gift Guide

When it comes to shopping for the men in our lives, things can get pretty challenging...don't you think? Girls are just so much easier (and more fun) to shop for! However, deserving dads shouldn't be left in the dust, especially on Father's Day, right? Whether he's a workaholic, frequent flyer, or boating enthusiast, I've got you covered this year!

Lusting After Lucite

I have found myself lusting over beautiful images of lucite furniture recently. It has the ability to lighten the look of any room, and adds a touch of modern elegance without going overboard. Lucite accent pieces are great for decorating smaller spaces (like apartments), because it gives you the functionality without the bulk, and its translucent surface allows light to easily pass through, making the space appear more 'open.'  In addition to beauty and functionality, lucite furniture goes well with essentially any style...

Would you add any lucite pieces to your home?

My Weekend in Photos

Happy It's Monday! Can we all agree that Monday comes too soon...every time? I hope everyone had a great weekend, ours was pretty low-key and enjoyable. Here's an iPhone recap...

Enjoying the beautiful weather on a walk in Corona del Mar
snails galore - a not-so-healthy breakfast - my nail lady talked me into getting a "sparkle finger"...still not sure how I feel about it (but I love her, so I couldn't say no) - Coronal del Mar beach

a night out at our favorite sushi spot in Newport Harbor

And remember this post? Well, the time is here...I decided it was now appropriate necessary to purchase a few maternity pieces. I held out as long as I could, but a lot of items (especially pants) were starting to get extremely uncomfortable as I approached week 28 (today). The great news? I will be able to wear most of these after pregnancy, as well (not so sure about the full-panel jeans, but you better believe I will try! ;) ).
The outfits above are from A Pea in the Pod - a great store, but pretty spendy for maternity clothes. The dress is BCBG; I couldn't find the exact match online, but found it in a different color here. Outfit number two: tank, and jeans. The jeans are so comfortable...
Ahhh comfort! Notice her faux bump...

I also picked up a couple things from Liz Lange's line for Target- a much more affordable price point!

Designer: Rachael Goddard

Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful week...any plans for the weekend? I am planning to relax, hit up the farmer's market, and enjoy the beautiful Southern California weather!

It's very rare that I come across an interior designer/design portfolio that has me lusting room after room, page after page...but that is in fact what happened when I discovered Rachael Goddard of PAINT/DESIGN/DECOR,INC. Each and every space is beautifully designed, well thought out, and looks inviting. Her design style is greatly versatile, and can go from elegant and classic, to clean and contemporary.

These are a few of my favorite spaces from her portfolio...which one do you love?

Have a great weekend!
